I love a good project. Especially one that involves tools, paint, and a drastic transformation. Well did I ever find the perfect project for my Super Hero loving family!
My mom brought over an old tricycle. It has been in her backyard for a long time. I honestly do not know where it came from, or who it originally belonged to, but it was obviously well loved. Rust, major fading, and parts just plain broken.
Here it is, in all it's dilapidated glory:
I knew exactly what I wanted to do, and set forth on my mission. First I washed it, really well and let it dry in the sun. Then I took some of the pieces off to make it easier to paint. I'm sure taking it completely apart would have made painting it that much easier but I was impatient and not sure I had the skills to reassemble.
Using Black and Yellow spray paint, painters tape and good ole' plastic grocery bags I was able to change the appearance of the tricycle quickly. I did not use special paint for plastic, however, I highly recommend you pay a little extra and pick up a can for the seat and pedals, since they will get the bulk of the wear and tear.
Several coats later I reassembled everything. I ordered a few vinyl decals from a seller on ETSY and applied them easily. The toddler boy LOVES his new Bat Cycle, and the 1st grader is super jealous. I guess I know what my next project will be: Wonder Woman Cycle? Batgirl Cycle? I don't know but it will be loved either way!
In total I spent about $15 on this makeover.

If it's not Cute, is it worth it?
This is a question I ask myself all the time, I have pondered it often and I have an answer.
NO. It's not worth it! I know this says a lot about me and you might even be saying things like, "that's shallow, or petty". But hear me out.
If I am going to spend money, time, or both I want the outcome to be cute. My efforts are worth something, and for that investment I want it (whatever it is) to be cute! So when my husband said he left his shaving kit on his last trip I knew just what to do! I hoped on over to BestBagLady.com and ordered him the 24/7 case. I didn't have one yet in my stash of Thirty-One goodies and I was elated to have a reason to buy one. But I stopped myself before checking out and I asked myself the question I always do, "But is it cute?". And, while functional and masculine, it was NOT cute....yet! A few minutes later after adding an adorable, yet masculine icon-it, I could say, "yes, this is cute!"
So ladies don't let the everyday tasks get you down! Just throw some cuteness at it and make it fun!
